Urban Hikes with Earth to Lititz

An urban hike through town sounds a little curious to some. When we announced our initiative, we heard questions like, "Isn't it just a walk?" and "Lititz isn't urban." We heard you, but after our first outing, we're also pretty positive we're onto something special.
Scheduled for the second Thursday of every month, our urban hikes differ from traditional walks because we aim to find the little-known trails and pathways tucked into our town, all while beginning in an urban environment of sidewalks, streets, and dense clusters of buildings. On April's hike, we started off on sidewalks, made our way down paved paths, and then found ourselves on a dirt trail winding along a stream near New Street Park. As we went, we picked up litter, returning to our starting point with a compostable bag that overflowed with waste.
For May's walk, scheduled for May 8th at 8 am and starting at Earth to Lititz, our plan is to head in another direction, find more hidden treasures, and learn more about our sweet town. Our walks will always aim to be between 45 and 55 minutes and move at a steady but relaxed pace. All are welcome, including well-behaved four-legged friends. We encourage hikers to bring water and wear shoes that work well on paved and dirt surfaces. We provide the compostable garbage bags for litter pick-up.
